Lewis Glass · Frameless shower enclosures

The centerpiece of the room.

A custom frameless glass shower door is the largest piece of glass most homeowners ever own. Done right, it disappears into the architecture and lets the tile, the stone, and the light do the work. We measure, spec, and install glass shower doors and frameless shower enclosures ourselves.

Frameless · Why it matters

Mostly glass, hardware, and the precision of the field measure.

There is no extruded aluminum hiding the gaps. The reveals are tight because the measure was tight. The doors swing true because the glass was specified to the wall, not pulled off a shelf. That is the whole craft, and that is what we do. Every custom shower door is measured specifically for your opening and professionally installed by experienced glass shower door installers.

The five configurations we install most

Five ways a

shower can open.

Most bathrooms fall into one of these. Your enclosure options depend on the shower opening, the surrounding room layout, and what's structurally sound. That's experience, not a guess. Send us a photo and that's usually enough to start the discussion. We proudly design and install custom shower doors, frameless glass shower doors, sliding shower doors, tub shower doors, and replacement glass shower doors for homeowners in Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, and surrounding Middle Tennessee.

Most Common

Swing shower door

A fixed panel plus a hinged door. The cleanest look for a typical shower opening. Hinges mount glass-to-wall, glass-to-glass, or ceiling/floor.

Two white cabinet doors with small dark handles and a narrow center panel

For wider openings

Sliding or barn door slider

Two panels on a top track. Best when the opening is wider than what a swing door comfortably handles, or when there isn't room outside the shower for a door to clear.

Simple closet layout with a dashed right edge labeled “walk-in”

walk-in / curbless

Single fixed panel

One pane, no door. The most architectural option, especially with a curbless entry. Requires a long enough wet-zone that the splash stays in the shower.

Three-panel white folding door with a green handle on the center panel

Corner Installs

Neo-angle

Multi-sided enclosure that tucks into a corner. Smart use of square footage in smaller bathrooms, and the angled front face reads more architectural than a square corner stall.

Tub-shower combos

Tub enclosure

Frameless glass over a tub, hinged or bypass. A real upgrade over a curtain. Perfect if you're replacing old glass doors for a bathtub or installing a new glass door for a tub enclosure.

Tight, even reveals

Field measured by us

We don't quote off a contractor's drawing. A real measure with a digital level, every time. The hour up front saves a re-cut and a re-trip.

Hardware specified to each shower

Hinge type, stabilizer placement, and clip count are decided after we have measured the layout. No guessing, no field-adapting hardware to make it fit.

Clean glass, polished edges

We won't leave you with a chipped, scratched, or bowed panel. A chipped edge or scratched panel tells on us for a decade.

glass coatings

Easier to clean. Clearer for longer.

Untreated glass shower doors eventually cloud: minerals from the water bond to the surface and a squeegee stops being enough. A baked-in coating fuses a permanent, non-stick layer into the glass, so water beads off and the surface stays clear for the life of the enclosure.

Recommended    Baked-in protection

Applied at the factory under heat and pressure while the glass is being made, so the coating is fused into the surface itself, not laid on top. It can't wear off, peel, or be cleaned away, and it carries a manufacturer lifetime warranty. We spec Guardian ShowerGuard, the baked-in coating we trust most for our water.

  • Permanent. Fused into the glass, not a surface treatment that wears off.
  • Manufacturer lifetime warranty. Backed by Guardian for as long as you own the glass.
  • Lowest maintenance. A quick squeegee is all most homeowners ever do.
  • Available on clear or low-iron, 3/8" or 1/2".

Middle TN water     Clarity that lasts

Hard water is the reality across Williamson County and Nashville. On untreated glass, minerals bond to the surface within a year and a squeegee stops being enough, leaving the cloudy film that dulls an enclosure. A baked-in coating is built for exactly that.

  • Keeps its clarity and color. The glass looks as clear as on install day, not hazed and gray.
  • Protects the surface. The non-stick layer keeps minerals and soap from etching in.
  • Beads water off. Water sheets off and soap rinses clean instead of drying into spots.

The bottom line

Worth it on nearly every job.

Want it on your enclosure? Mention it on the quote and we'll spec the coating with the glass.

Every shower we install carries our Measured-Right Guarantee. For the first year it's full coverage on our workmanship...That's one reason homeowners choose Lewis Glass over another shower door company: a hinge that needs adjusting, a panel that needs aligning, a silicone touch-up, anything that traces to how we installed it, we come back and handle it at no charge. No paperwork, no debate. After that, a lifetime limited warranty backs the structural side of the install: glass or hardware that fails because of how it was mounted or anchored, or a track set out of plumb. The glass and hardware also carry their own manufacturer warranties.

A half-century of installs in Tennessee, and we still get calls about jobs we did in the 80s. That's the bar.

Questions we get every week.

If yours isn't here, call the shop or send a photo. A real person picks up.

Right-pointing arrow icon in black on a white background
  • How long does a custom frameless shower door installation take, start to finish?

We publish a standard lead time of about 4 to 6 weeks for custom frameless shower door installations throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Depending on the job and how busy the shop is, it can run shorter or longer. Once we know what you need and check it against our current schedule, we'll confirm your installation date and keep you updated if anything shifts.

  • When during the build does the custom frameless shower glass get measured?

After tile is set, grout is cured, and the shower head and valve are in. Before paint touch-up if you can swing it. We measure to the finished surfaces because every custom frameless shower enclosure is built specifically for your completed opening. Measuring earlier usually means re-measuring later.

  • What does a custom frameless shower door cost?

It depends on the size, the hardware finish, the glass thickness, and whether you want a protective coating. We won't quote a number on a website that we can't honor at install. Every frameless shower door is custom built, so pricing is based on your exact space and design. Send us a photo and rough dimensions, and we'll come back with a real number.

  • Do I need a protective coating on my frameless shower glass?

You don't need one. You'll be glad you have one. Hard water in Middle Tennessee is real, and uncoated glass starts showing it inside a year. We recommend a baked-in coating like Guardian ShowerGuard. It's fused into the glass, carries a manufacturer lifetime warranty, and keeps your frameless shower glass clearer and easier to clean instead of clouding over.

  • Do you install semi-frameless and frameless shower doors?

Yes. We install frameless shower doors, semi-frameless shower doors, sliding shower doors, and custom glass shower doors to homeowners throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

  • What if my walls aren't perfectly plumb for a frameless shower door installation?

They almost never are. That's exactly what the field measure is for. We measure with a digital level from top to bottom and cut the glass to match the wall as it actually is. A wall that's out a quarter-inch over seven feet is normal. Every custom frameless shower door is fabricated to fit your specific opening, so the reveals stay tight and the door still swings true.

  • What frameless shower door hardware finishes do you offer?

Polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, satin brass, and brushed bronze are the everyday five. We can usually match the finish of your plumbing fixtures from Kohler, Moen, Delta, Brizo, and most other major brands so your frameless shower door hardware looks like part of the same design. Bring a sample or the model name and we'll match it.

  • Will the frameless shower door swing inward or outward?

Frameless shower doors must be able to swing outward by code. Our standard hinges swing a full 180 degrees, so your frameless shower door can open in or out depending on your bathroom layout and installation.

  • What does your frameless shower door installation warranty actually cover?

Two layers. For the first year, you get full coverage on our workmanship, including door and hinge adjustments, hardware, panel alignment, and silicone touch-ups - anything that traces back to your frameless shower door installation. After that, a lifetime limited warranty covers structural issues such as glass or hardware failures caused by how the enclosure was mounted or anchored, or a track that was installed out of plumb. Routine upkeep like silicone reapplication and normal hardware wear isn't covered after year one. The glass and hardware also carry their own manufacturer warranties. To start a claim, call or email us and we'll inspect the enclosure, usually within about five business days.

  • Can you replace a leaky shower door?

Yes. If you have a leaky shower door, outdated hardware, or worn seals, we can often recommend replacement glass shower doors or a completely new custom installation depending on the condition of your existing enclosure.
